Dead Sea Scrolls and Essenes
"While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light"... John 12:36 This verse is pointed to by those who think Jesus was influenced by the Essene movement who's teachings are found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Some suggest that Jesus may have been the "teacher of righteousness" referred to in Essene writings, or possibly a follower of that teacher.
These scrolls which were discovered around the Qumran site between 1946 and 1956, the first discovery being made by Muhammed edh-Dhib a Bedouin shepherd.
